Our Story
Rebeca, founder of Habitat Matter

I’m Rebeca, an architect and the founder of Habitat Matter. I founded the company from my passion for design, nature & materials, and from a gap I kept running into as a designer: incredible material innovations exist globally, but designers in the US rarely have access to them, or the time to track them down.

Trained in Architecture between Spain and Belgium, I moved to New York over a decade ago and have spent 14 years in the industry. I set out to close that gap, starting with acoustics, a field I felt design had left behind, and one I feel personally, being sound-sensitive myself. The goal was simple: to find the coolest, most innovative, sustainable acoustic materials out there and make them more accessible to designers in the US.

Today, we research, curate, and supply acoustic materials for interiors rooted in nature, circularity, and thoughtful design. We partner with a handful of exceptional, design-forward suppliers, vetting each one closely before bringing them to the US market, and guide projects from concept to completion, bridging the gap between designers, architects, and manufacturers so communication, sourcing, and execution feel seamless.

Want to see some samples, explore a material, or just talk through an idea? Send us a note, we’d love to hear what you’re working on.
